Fading is a shot which begins in total darkness and gradually lightens to full brightness. And the opposite for fade out. This technique could be good with introductions and endings or fade between scenes.
- Jump cuts
Jump cuts are a cut which breaks the continuity of time by jumping forward from one part of an action to another. This will be good to see passing of time within my scene.
- Dissolving
Dissolving is a gradual merging of the end of one shot and beginning of another produced by the superimposition of a fade-out onto a fade-in of equal length. This would be good to end scenes with or enter the starting scene with.
- Panning
Panning is to rotate the camera about on its vertical axis. This would be well used if I need to slide across the screen or pan around my character or object.
- Cross cutting
Cross cutting is the intercutting of shots from two or more scenes so the fragments of each scene will be presented to the viewers attention alternately. I will most likely use this in my short movies.
- J and L cuts
These cuts are to make transitions go a lot smoothy and is based on sounds. Ill be using this a lot in my scenes.
