Start of movie and explanation (no textures/lights)
Start of movie.. This is just a update showing what my particles are doing around my sphere.
To explain my movie, the sphere represents our day. The sphere rises up from the ground to represent that we have woken up. Then particles starts to swarm around the sphere. The particles represent our daily activities and the flow is in a constant circle representing the routine of our day. More and more particles keep appearing meaning the we are doing more and more activities in our day. But when something in our routine day doesn't go to plan (E.G- Missing the bus) the particles change shape meaning that there is a different flow in our routine and saying that something has changed. These particles are continuous changing shapes the more we don't follow the routine of our day. At the end of the day the particles and the sphere drop to the ground and fade into the ground meaning that our day is over. (E.G- we are asleep).

Insides and questions...
Here is the RC Car and Phone taken apart and hes whats inside. I understand some parts inside each object but I'm just wondering how I could turn the RC controller into the keypad of my phone. Also how the vibration sensor is going to work. All these questions will be answered soon hopefully...

New idea for MDDN 251. Vibration alarm..
I have had an idea to add to my project. When I complete my model I want to test it. Im going to create obstacles that it has to pass. Or if I have time create a homemade course with bumps and hills plus corners. I thought this could be good because since it has a vibration sensor on it and if you go to fast or go over a bump the alarm goes off (meaning that your done something wrong). Its almost turned into a game and you get punished with the sound of the alarm if your done something wrong.
Idea One so far..
My idea so far....
Topic focus: To create an acrylic RC robot that can be controlled via a mobile phone keypad. The robot could be unstable and each time the robot falls over or hits an object an alarm goes off to say something has gone wrong.
(Production Focus) I want to create an object that has wheels but to make it move you have to use the keypad on the old phone. To move the object forward you would have to press 8, reverse press 2, forward and right press 8&6 and lastly to move forward and left, 8&4. Same with reverse. (left, 2&4, right 2&6).
Components and hardware.
Hardware:
- Wire strippers
- Multimeter
- Wire cutters
- Screwdrivers/ pliers
- Soldering Equipment (Solder, Soldering iron, Soldering station, Wire and maybe Desoldering Braid)
- Drill press/ other machinery
Components:
- Batteries
- RC Wheels
- Keypad from phone
- Acrylic

Another Three Sketches..
Artist Model : Hannah Hoch.
Theme: Chaos.
Each concept has a different narrative to it. It will be all explained on the original sketches. (Presentation)

Physical computing, interfaces.
Ideas of interfaces:
Phones, Gameboys, Xbox's, Playstation's (1,2,3), joysticks, stuffed animals that talk, RC cars, remotes, sensors, alarms, subwoofers, amplifiers, headunits etc...
My three interfaces I'm going to research:
1- Alarms
2- RC cars
3- Old Phone
1- I chose these three interfaces because they interest me a lot with there functionality. For instances alarms are very useful with their functionality being able to wake up ourselves with their loud noises and vibrations. Also they can warn us if activity is around e.g.- break ins, smoke alarms, class finishing etc...
2- I chose the RC car because it has the simple functionality of moving the car around via a remote control in the users hand. It brings us joy interacting with this object and I"m hoping to incorporate this into my project.
3- I chose the mobile phone as my last interface because it is very functional to the user. It has so many options within the phone. What I want to take from the mobile phone is the functionality of the object towards the user.
These objects are going to be a good start to my project because I want my project to be functional, exciting to interact with and user friendly.

Concepts/sketches for animation
Here I have three concepts/ sketches for my 30 second animation.
Idea 1:
Since my artist model is all about finding whats in the inside of objects, I based my idea off that. The artist model is Damien Hirst.
The movie starts off as a mud/dirt texture in a form that is bubbly but is solid at the same time. The heat of the sun rays will make the dirt/mud melt off and underneath the layer of mud will be a metal ball. This metal ball will then start to peel off with rust and peel backwards like a flower then inside the steal ball will be abstract triangle shapes that are ice then fades away, melting into the distance to find a black glass diamond. Once the sunlight hits the diamond it starts to shatter because the heat is so intense. The animation finishes with a piles of glass pieces on the ground to end the process of finding out whats inside objects. (Relates back to artist model)
Idea 2: My artist model for this idea is László Moholy-Nagy. This artist model uses simple geometry and I thought I could incorporate this into my idea.
Its a basic idea which starts with a rectangle with a wood texture on it. Multiple more shapes appear from the sides of the screen with different wood textures on it, they all combined together with see through effects (which is a technique from the artist model), each time the forms connect it makes a spark and connects very solidly as if it was being magnetized. At the end of the movie they all combine together to end up with a simple rectangle again but with separate textures on the finesse.
Simple idea but I don't think ill follow through on this one. Not really a native behind this idea but its more based on the artist model.
Idea 3: The artist model for this sketch is Hannah Hoch. Her works are chaotic, so I based this idea on chaos.
It starts off with a simple blob form which represents a "problem". This blob will have a lava/fire texture on it, and will fly past the screen. Then the blob will then hit this form which will have an earth texture on it, this represents the economy. Several other "problems" (blobs) will hit the economy and then it will start to crumbling and crack as more blobs hit the economy. At the end of the movie there will just be crumbles of rocked textured blobs on the floor meaning that the economy has collapsed.
I like this idea and I want to carry it on through to the animation.

Inspiration!
Here are a couple projects that are inspiring me at the moment for my project. I'm very interested in the led lights and time lapse of lights or a show of lights creating a form. Also I'm looking into sounds and I'm hoping to incorporate led lights and sounds into my project. I guess my goal so far is to make the led lights light up to the beat of a song..

Project One - Precedents.
My precedent image/ artists for project one are:
Damien Hirst.
I chose him as my precedent because his work is all about revealing whats in the inside of objects/ forms. I thought it would be a good idea to incorporate this style into my work. For instance if I had a circle and wanted to know what would be inside that circle, I could animate it splitting in half and more forms are inside etc...
László Moholy-Nagy.
I chose László Moholy-Nagy because of his simplicity but complex geometry's. Also I liked the way how he uses shadows in his work and I hope to incorporate this into my work.
Hannah Höch
I chose Hannah Höch for the chaos of her works. I hope to incorporate this "chaos" theme into my animation. I also like how it gives you a "busy" feel to the artwork and almost seems like its ready to burst with movement.
